Wembley National Stadium Trust funding
Following a successful grant application to the Wembley National Stadium Trust the project is delighted to confirm that Coping Through Football’s future in Waltham Forest has been secured for a further three years. The priority will be to reduce the number of people presenting with mental health issues from becoming long term mental health service users by focusing on effective early intervention in psychosis approaches, particularly amongst 18-24 year olds.
Alex Welsh (London Playing Fields Foundation), Sonia Smith and Barbara Armstrong (North East London Foundation Trust) recently attended the launch of Wembley National Stadium Trust’s London-wide Disability Sports Programme where they were presented with a grant cheque by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE.
Alex Welsh said: “It is fantastic that a global brand like Wembley Stadium can help extend Coping Through Football so that it reaches younger service users experiencing mental health problems for the first time. It clearly demonstrates the power of football to transform lives.”
